Holiday 2015 Preview

This holiday season is already getting pretty packed. With lots of great games and movies coming out I decided I’d make a list of the highlights and things to look out for, not only for people interested but also for myself. So here’s what you should be keeping an eye on in the next couple months.

Yoshi’s Wolly World – Already out!yoshis_woolly_world_header

Don’t let the similar style to 2010’s disappointing Kirby’s Epic Yarn fool you. Yoshi’s Wolly World turns out to be one of the greatest Yoshi games since Yoshi’s Island. The game came out in Europe earlier this year to much fan surprise. This cleverly designed and unbelievably beautiful side scrolling game is definitely something you’ll want to pick up.

Tkn14escjwh7qrljswc34he Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes – October 22, 201
Any fans of Four Swords or other Zelda cooperative games are absolutely going to want to check out Tri Force Heroes. Unlike other Zelda coop games, Tri Force Heroes has three player coop instead of four. There are also a myriad of customization options and enough dungeons to keep you busy for days. I can’t wait to put my Link into Zelda’s dress and finally play as a girl in Zelda, a game where a girl’s name is the title.

Halo 5 – October 23rd, 2015

Halo‘s first foray onto the Xbox One in true form, not counting the Halo Master Chief Collection, is undoubtedly going to be the hot topic for the next couple weeks. With Master Chief not being the only playable character as well as an intriguing story surrounding his disappearance, Halo 5 is going to be an awesome experience. Whether or not 343 can make an online shooter that works better than the abysmal Halo: MCC remains to be seen but I believe they know they have a lot to prove and that they will prove it to us all later this month.

Spectre – November 6, 2015Gcn33Ag

In what will probably be Daniel Craig’s last performance as the illustrious James Bond, Spectre promises to deliver a story rich with action and intrigue as well as callbacks to some obscure Bond villains and characters. So whether you’re a die hard Bond fan or enjoy a good action thriller, you’ll want to check out Spectre.

imgresThe Peanuts Movie – November 6, 2015

Animated movies are often hit or miss. There’s a fine balance that they have to walk between child friendly and entertaining for the adults. From the trailers, it looks like this movie will be a faithful adaptation of the comic strip. There is a noticeable similarity between what this movie seems to be doing and what the old cartoons did with classics like A Charlie Brown Christmas and A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. This will be a good one to go see with the family.

Fallout 4 – November 10, 2015Fallout_4_cover_art

Bethesda and Fallout 4 have had gamers enraptured since their stellar showing at E3 earlier this year. The incomprehensible amount of content in Fallout 4 will have gamers busy for years. There is staggering list of things that the player can do in Fallout 4. So be very excited for that vault door to open and to be able to explore the vast Wasteland with your pal Dogmeat.

Star Wars Battlefront – November 17, 2015

star-warsEA and the talented team at Dice have been hard at work building this return to everyone’s favourite Star Wars video game. There is a lot of soul and a lot of character in this game. A lot of respect for the Star Wars universe and the characters in it. If you missed my impressions from the beta be sure to check them out here.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens – December 18, 2015

What else needs to be said? It’s one of the most important, most iconic movie franchises ever. And with J.J. Abrams at the helm there is a new hope among Star Wars fans that episode seven will be the faithful Star Wars  movie they’ve wanted for so long.

The Hateful Eight – December 25, 2015the-hateful-eight

As a big Quentin Tarantino fan I know this movie will be entertaining based solely on the director’s reputation. I haven’t watched any trailers or read any previews. I plan on going in with a clean slate and also plan on being absolutely delighted. So if you enjoyed Inglorious Basterds as much as I did be sure to check out The Hateful Eight on your Christmas break.

That’s it! Everything you should be excited for in the coming months. Think I missed anything? Please let me know in the comments!
